Hi, I'm Michaela
I've been helping businesses get found online since 2008, but my path into SEO wasn't exactly traditional. It started in London, working for an illustration agency in the heart of the advertising industry, managing everything from website portfolios to email newsletters.
That early exposure to how creative businesses struggle to showcase their work online sparked something. After leaving London, I spent six years running my own content consultancy, learning firsthand what it's like to build a business whilst trying to market it at the same time.
When I moved to New Zealand in 2017, I dove deeper into SEO, working with agencies across Auckland and Christchurch. Over the past seven years, I've optimised websites for businesses across pretty much every industry you can think of—from construction companies to software startups, finance firms to local restaurants.
Why This Experience Matters for Your Business
Working agency-side means I've seen what actually works (and what doesn't) across hundreds of different websites, industries, and budgets. I've wrestled with everything from 20-year-old WordPress sites to cutting-edge e-commerce platforms, helping businesses in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and the US get better results from their websites.
Since 2021, I've been leading SEO teams and teaching strategy at NZIE, which means I'm constantly staying on top of what's changing in search whilst helping others make sense of it all.
The best part? I genuinely love solving these puzzles. There's something deeply satisfying about figuring out why a perfectly good website isn't getting found and then watching the results improve once we fix it.

Every Business Is Different (And I Actually Mean That)
After working on websites across everything from local construction companies to international software firms, one thing becomes crystal clear: there's no one-size-fits-all approach to SEO.
What works for an e-commerce site won't work for a law firm. A strategy that's perfect for targeting Auckland customers will fall flat if you're trying to reach international markets. And the approach that makes sense for a startup with no budget definitely won't suit an established business ready to invest properly.
That's why every project starts with understanding your specific situation—your customers, your competition, your constraints, and your actual goals. Not what you think you should want, but what will genuinely move your business forward.
